Permits to operate motorized and non-motorized boats are required in the state of Oregon. Additional permitting is required to boat the Wild and Scenic Snake River.

Motorized vs. non-motorized: while any watercraft type requires a permit, certain watercraft may be prohibited from certain water bodies. Check for more details for the lake or river of your interest.
