October welcomes fall
It’s a beautiful time of year to visit Baker, and there’s plenty of goings-on to make the trip even more special. Check out everything happening below.

October 2-4: Taste of Baker
First things first, First Friday Art Walk starts at Crossroads and criss-crosses over other galleries and destinations in Baker City. Then Saturday is the 29th annual Taste of Baker where vendors line the streets of downtown and offer sample size bites of their tastiest recipes in exchange for tokens. Join over 1,500 attendees each year, this family-friendly event is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, showcasing regional food and beverage makers. Saturday and Sunday you can partake in a silent glider flight above the Baker Valley.
October 8-11: Classical Elegance
On October 8, joing a Night at the Opera to benefit the Orpheum Theater – enjoy dinner and an operatic show. On Sunday, classical pianist Jim Isaac Chua will be performing showstoppers from his piano solo repertoire as part of his rural-PNW traveling show.
October 14-18: Plein Air Painting and more
On Wednesday the Brushstrokes and Byways En Plein Air Painting event will see artists of all types out and about painting from real life all over Baker. At the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, Culture Keepers Katie Harris Murphy and Mary Harris will be exhibiting their Native American regalia and beadwork for all to see. The Eastern Oregon Regional Theatre presents Exit Pursued by Bear. And Parktoberfest will find family fun and a BBQ context at the Whistlestop in Sumpter.
October 23-25: Get in the Fall Spirit
The Huntington Haunted Forest promises spooktacular fun for all ages, and the Sumpter Valley Railroad will be offering special fall foliage rides for the leaf peepers.
October 30-31: Halloween Trains
The Sumpter Valley Railroad will be running its special Halloween Express, and the Geiser Grand will be throwing a spectacular Halloween Masquerade Weekend to get into the Halloween spirit.
