In the heart of it all – discover a charming, bustling small town that remains a commercial and cultural hub for the region. Quiet, walkable residential neighorhoods surround lively corridors of activity, the center of which is Main Street and Historic Downtown and its beautiful stone and masonry storefronts.
A small town of about 400, Haines is just north of Baker City and on the Elkhorn Scenic Byway. Stop in to visit the Eastern Oregon Museum and feast at the regionally renowned Haines Steak House.
From the rugged beauty of Hells Canyon and the vast trails of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest to the welcoming streets of downtown and the history preserved at the Pine Valley Museum, there’s something here for every kind of traveler.
A stop on the Oregon Trail, Huntington now offers access to the Snake River and hosts exciting events all year round.
Along the shores of Brownlee Reservoir and at the southernmost part of the Wallowas, Richland is known for its friendly folk and outdoor accessibility. It’s a great place to mingle with locals and stop for some food.
Along the Elkhorn Scenic Byway, Sumpter is a great point to stop and learn about the history of this unique town. The town is also a great jumping-off point to wilderness exploration in the mountains, no matter the season.
A tiny town of just 40 residents, Unity is the ideal stopover point for any excursion to the Unity Lake State Recreation Site or fishing trips along the Burnt River.
