SUMMARY:18th Annual Great Salt Lick Auction
DESCRIPTION:As every cowboy and cowgirl knows\, critters can be pretty darn creative when deriving minerals from a block of salt. By auctioning off the works of art\, the Great Salt Lick contest has used that animal creativity to raise over $175\,000 for Parkinson’s Research at OHSU! \nCreated by local artist\, photographer and creative entertainer Whit Deschner\, the Great Salt Lick Contest & Auction became a claim to fame for the ranching community of Baker City\, Oregon. The community sits in the heart of cattle country\, surrounded by mountains and grasslands. Deschner led the event through 15 years and has handed over the reins to the Baker City Lions Club. He’ll still be on hand to inspire the auction\, as will the longtime auctioneer\, Mib Dailey\, and food and beverages from the likes of our award-winning Barley Brown Brewing and Copper Belt Winery. \nDon’t miss our 16th annual event! \nFREE \nFood available from MC Taco Bus and drinks from Strade B Bar

Over the last two years\, his concerts have raised over $200\,000 USD for humanitarian organizations. \nA Benefit Concert For Crossroads Education Program \nCrossroads Arts Education \nArtSpeak was founded in 1987 by Debbie Friedman\, and its original purpose was to help underserved and disadvantaged populations within the community. SUMMARY:Tray Wellington w/ The Howard Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Banjo player Tray Wellington’s approach to the quintessential American instrument is all about looking forward. An International Bluegrass Music Association Award winner\, Wellington is critically acclaimed not only for his technical prowess\, but also for leveraging his unique point of view to craft a one-of-a-kind voice on the instrument. It’s a feat that’s all too rare in these roots genres that seem to value emulation and regurgitation over all else. Instead\, Wellington has time and time again reasserted that his playing style\, and all of the many varied and disparate parts that combine within it\, is wholly his own – and it’s unconcerned with tradition. \nThe Howard Brothers (formerly know as Cross-Eyed Possum) are an identical twin led Americana/Newgrass band that plays with the energy of a folk-rock band through the lens of intimacy created as an acoustic trio. Their music is an amalgamation of their collective love for passionate rock ‘n’ roll\, their experience with the free and honest feeling found in acoustic/bluegrass festivals\, and their time spent dedicated to the adventurous tendencies of jazz and classical music composition while attending universities. The band is currently celebrating their second studio album “Out On My Own.” \n$20 advanced tickets $30 at the door \n*$5 off for Seniors\, Vets & Students* Students ages 16 to 21 only. SUMMARY:Fox and Bones at Churchill School
DESCRIPTION:The only thing better than dating someone in your band is dating no one in your band. At least it sure sounds that way according to the recent output from Portland based Post-Yacht Rock outfit Fox and Bones\, whose best work is coming directly following their split as a romantic duo. Or perhaps it was the addition of internationally acclaimed songwriter Greg Holden\, who joined the project as a producer for their 2024 album “Long Time Honey” and upcoming fifth studio record “Are We Still Having Fun?”\, scheduled for release September of 2026. \nRegardless of what has codified the group\, the musical result is undeniable. “Are We Still Having Fun?” is an expansive step forward for the band\, both lyrically and sonically\, as the duo tackles technology\, the modern political climate\, anxiety\, party culture and mental health under a musical tapestry that ranges from their familiar retro folk rock to modern Bleachers-esque indi-pop. It is a plunge into the deep end after years of swimming on the surface. When combined with Holden’s surgical production and lyrical input\, “Are We Still Having Fun?” is primed to be Fox and Bones best record yet. \nAnd after ten years and 200\,000 miles\, it better be. Fox and Bones has toured tirelessly in their career\, sharing stages with the likes of Rayland Baxter\, The Dead South\, ZZ Ward\, Fantastic Cat and Glitterfoxamong others and have been awarded first place at the 2023 Tucson Folk Festival songwriting contest and second place in the International Acoustic Music Awards along with earning the Best Folk/Americana Album of 2024 by the PNW Music Awards. In their spare moments they’ve founded and run Portland’s Folk Festival\, an annual celebration of folk and roots music hosted by the iconic Crystal Ballroom in their hometown of Portland\, Oregon. \n$15 advanced tickets $20 at the door \n*$5 off for Seniors\, Vets & Students* Students ages 16 to 21 only. SUMMARY:Luke Winslow-King Live at Churchill School
DESCRIPTION:Luke Winslow-King blends jazz\, blues\, classical\, and folk into a powerful\, cinematic sound. With fluid guitar work\, fearless songwriting\, and gruff yet tender vocals\, his music leaves a lasting impression. \nOriginally hailing from Cadillac\, Michigan\, and now living in Spain\, Winslow-King drank deeply from the wells of blues and rock\, growing up immersed in Chess Records and classic rock radio. After a period of study in jazz guitar and classical composition\, he picked up his instrument and lit out for the territories—busking on street corners with fellow musicians and performing Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land.” He soon fell in love with New Orleans\, where he spent more than fifteen years honing his craft on the streets\, studying with mentors “Washboard” Lissa Driscoll and John Boutté\, and forming a lifelong musical partnership with guitarist Roberto Luti. \nAs a songwriter\, Winslow-King refuses to force songs into fixed musical molds. Instead\, he works to remain open to sudden flashes of inspiration—attentive to the muse when she calls. He carries this philosophy into the studio as well\, striving to stay present and let the song reveal itself. Allowing room for spontaneity\, the band imagines the audience in the room\, bringing each song to life with the aim of setting listeners afire. \n$20 advanced and $25 at the door \n*$5 off for Seniors\, Vets & Students* Students ages 16 to 21 only.
