In winter, visitors come for powder and Nordic trails, while summer brings hiking, mountain biking, and scenic landscapes.
ACTIVITIES

Downhill Skiing
Sitting at 7,100 feet above sea level, Anthony Lakes has the highest base elevation of any ski area in Oregon. Anthony Lakes boasts some of the best snow around and routes for beginners, interemediate, and expert skiers.

Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
With 30 kilometers of groomed and track-set trails, the Anthony Lakes Nordic area is cross-country skier’s wonderland. The Nordic Outpost operates out of the Elkhorn Crest Trailhead parking lot, about ¼ mile before the main lodge parking lot. Rentals, trail passes, maps, and expert information are available at the outpost.

Mountain Biking
Over 8 miles of single track trails follow the Nordic ski corridors and offer a little of everything; from 1000-foot climbs to the top of the mountain, to rugged, rocky descents. With multiple high lakes and beautiful granite peaks, these trails are scenic and fun!

Camping
Campsites around Anthony Lake include walk-in, drive-in, and ADA-accessible options.

Hiking
Multiple trails depart from the Anthony Lakes area or join up to other trail systems in the Elkhorns. Below are a few destinations:
– Anthony Lakes Shoreline – easy, 1-mile flat path around the lake
– Hoffer Lakes – easy .5 miles to picturesque lakes among granite slabs
– Black Lake – easy 1 mile trail to a quieter lake with some primitive campsites
– The Lakes Lookout – more difficult climb to a viewpoint of the Elkhorn range and valley
– Crawfish Basin – hike into the basin on the south side of the Little Alps mountain cluster
– Elkhorn Crest – join up with the 23-mile route running the north-south link of the Elkhorns
Many longer loops can be made by combining trails together. For example, you could start at Anthony Lake, hike to Hoffer, then up to the junction of Crawfish Basin, take that to the Dutch Flat Saddle, and then take the Elkhorn Crest back down to complete the loop. Total: 8 miles and 1,500 feet of gain.
Not too far away from Anthony Lake
– Van Patten Lake – easy hike and great for swimming
– Grande Ronde Lake – good camping and easy access
