August heats up the action
Celebrate summer with the county fair, a 50k race through the mountains, plays, music, and lots of good food.

August 1-2: Shows, Music, Demolition Derby
Head to the farmers market every Saturday 9am-12pm, and stick around for a couple of entertainment options in the evening. Eastern Oregon Regional Theatre kicks off the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Saturday at 6:30pm. The show will run Sunday and the following weekend as well. In Haines, the Demolition Derby offers destructive fun at the Haines Stampede Rodeo Grounds. And on Sunday, the Powder Music Revue continues with performances by Kupenga Marimba. August 3-9: Fair, First Friday, Footrace
The Baker County Fair kicks of Wednesday and is in town through Sunday. Enjoy free concerts, vendors, and the theme of Blue Jeans and American Dreams. First Friday features art from Debra Otterstein at Crossroads, plus more at stops throughout downtown. And on Saturday the Elkhorn Crest 53 mile and 50k take intrepid racers into the mountains on the Elkhorn Crest Trail.
August 14-16: Folklife, Car Show, Steak Feed
Head to the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center for a new Oregon Culture Keeper Residency. Mildred Quaempts will display Umatallia dantalium piecework. On Saturday check out the Baker City Show & Shine car show, with live music, raffles, and food vendors. And in the evening head to Quail Ridge for the Durkee Steak Feed to enjoy more great food, music, and community.
August 29: QuailFest 2026
On Saturday, head to Quail Ridge Golf Course for the third annual QuailFest. Enjoy local vendors, great good, and live music. The musical lineup features Elwood, Add Collard, Mylo Bybee, Eel Sallad, and Rediviva.

Churchill School has several great acts coming through, from Dylan Earl, Vandoliers, Anna Tivel and Sam Weber, and The Horse Feathers. The Powder River Music Revue is bringing a variety of genres to the park every Sunday.
