Baldy Lake is a serene subalpine lake in the Baldy Unit of the North Fork John Day Wilderness, sitting beneath Mt. Ireland and surrounded by fir, lodgepole pine, and open mountain slopes. Reached by hiking Baldy Creek Trail #1603 or from the upper Baldy Lake Trailhead, it is a popular destination for day hikers, anglers, backpackers, and fall hunters seeking a quieter alpine setting than some of the more visited Elkhorn lakes.

Hikes in the Elkhorns can be difficult and require skills and preparation. Summers can be hot and dry. Research your route to ensure a successful trip.
