There are campsites on the south and east shores of Lookingglass Lake, with a 15-foot dam wall at the north end. The outlet stream plunges down the granite slope in a waterfall that can be seen from the Lookingglass Lake Trail. Since the lake is a reservoir, it is more spectacular when water levels are high. Subalpine fir and whitebark pines dot the granite slopes of Hummingbird Mountain and crown a small island. Around the end of July, a crew opens the valves in the dam wall, and a bathtub ring appears. A boggy meadow lines the south shore.
Bear Lake is a smaller natural lake overlooking the Eagle Creek valley. Visit both for a long day trip or backpack in for a beautiful multi-day experience.

Experience hiking and backpacking in the backcountry is advised before attempting this route
