Where Baker’s history is on display

The museum is located in the 100-year old Baker Municipal Natatorium, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The museum is a two-story interpretive collection of Baker County’s history, specifically from the 1860s through 1960s. Core exhibits in the museum include Baker County industries (logging, ranching, and mining), historical Baker City, Wally Byam’s Airstream experience, Chinese heritage, native and non-native wildlife, and an extensive Baker County gold collection with over 200 pieces including the 80.4 oz Armstrong Nugget that was found in 1913.

Events

The Baker Heritage Museum Speaker Series presents fascinating talks about local history and culture monthly on the second Tuesday of the month. Social hour starts at 6pm, followed by the talk at 7pm.
